Of all 5 communities on the North coast of Labrador, Hopedale is the only community without trees/a forest to cover its land/houses from harsh winds throughout the year. As you fly to Hopedale from both South and North, you’ll know when you’re getting closer to Hopedale because the forest covered lands turn to bare, rocky landscapes.
Hopedale has been a very popular fishing spot, holding two fishing camps.
